Biography

The work of Matthew Propert has been showcased in Nature Photographer Magazine and Friction Climbing Magazine. Matthew has also received the NANPA college scholarship to attend the 2008 Annual Summit.

Matthew Propert was born in Richmond, Virginia in 1982. His youth was spent near the rolling hills of the Appalachian Mountains. Being so close to nature inspired an environmental awareness at an early age. Since these early years, Matthew's travels have varied extensively, ranging from the rain and cloud forests of Central America, to the vast deserts of North Africa, and the national parks of the United States. It is the natural world that Matthew is most inspired to document by camera, especially environments threatened by the actions of mankind.

Today Matt is involved in numerous ongoing photo projects, namely an extensive and intimate documentary of Rocky Mountain National Park and the conjoining Indian Peaks Wilderness in Colorado. He has settled-for the time being--in Gold Hill, Colorado, where he lives in the beautiful Rockies, writing, photo editing, and planning new adventures.
