Costa Rica
Located in southern Wyoming, the Red Desert consists of 6 million vast and desolate acres. The region provides critical wildlife habitat for wild horses, pronghorn antelope, and numerous other mammals and bird species. Unfortunately the Red Desert is critically endangered. More oil lies underneath this area than in all of Saudi Arabia. Fortunately, for now most of this oil is locked in shale. Drilling has begun, however, and many pristine acres of the Red Desert are not receiving the wilderness protection they need in order to be spared. This land throbs with the same pulse it has for thousands of years. It is tremendously important that the public support the designation of the Red Desert as a valuable wilderness area. The voice of 50,000 antelope and 1,000 wild horses is not enough.
